The Little Toy reflects the Eameses interest in prefab architecture and their love for adapting readily available, off-the-shelf materials to new and unexpected uses. The Little Toy is a kit of squares and triangles in the form of brightly colored panels and wireframes. Wires are used to connect the panels and wireframes into a myriad of ways and experience a playful modularity that results in toy houses, hanging geometric sculptures, and architectural desktop structures.

Charles & Ray Eames

Toys

Charles and Ray were serious about the designing of objects—from the initial brainstorming of constraints to an item’s longevity through the decades—and simultaneously, they derived many of their design processes from toys. The intrinsic qualities of toys taught the Eameses that a design could be unselfconscious, simple in its use of materials, and provoke a feeling of delight.
