Our much anticipated third edition of Eames Playing Cards, “Kite” takes inspiration from a tissue-paper kite designed by the Eames Office in 1950. The simplicity of form and whimsical color-scheme were drawn directly from the original artifact, a high-design toy which reminds us to “Take your pleasure seriously.”
Eames Playing Cards come in a letterpress printed box celebrating the house Charles and Ray designed and built.

Charles and Ray were serious about the designing of objects—from the initial brainstorming of constraints to an item’s longevity through the decades—and simultaneously, they derived many of their design processes from toys. The intrinsic qualities of toys taught the Eameses that a design could be unselfconscious, simple in its use of materials, and provoke a feeling of delight.
