Pictoral History of Herman Miller

DATE - 1967

This 14.5×42-inch poster was made by the Eames Office in 1967. It offered a timeline of modern design in America from 1925 to 1965, illustrating the development of products manufactured at Herman Miller. The poster has the same characteristics as other Eames timelines in that it features historically significant events to flesh out each period. This includes the onset of industrial design, important furniture made by other companies, and culturally significant works in film, literature, and art. The poster, printed in three colors with 350 images, was first distributed to Herman Miller International employees who attended a picnic at the Eames House on September 27, 1967. Eventually, the timeline was made available to all Herman Miller clients and interested students; however, it is no longer in print today.
