Clown Face

Initially created as a training film for The Clown College of Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus, Clown Face is a close-up look at the precise and classical art of applying makeup, as exhibited by famous clowns. Originally intended as a tutorial on makeup application, this film is also an exercise in demonstrating the concept of symmetry, using the human face as an example. Several famous clowns appear, applying their own makeup in “Clown Alley.” Scored with circus music recorded during live performances of the Ringling Bros. circus.
