Eames House Series: IV. Heart Picnic

$350

SKU: 83004 In Stock

A playful and inviting limited edition photograph from the Eames House.

This image, “Heart Picnic,” is the fourth and final still in a series featured at the 2021 Isetan exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. The stills originate from the 1955 film, “House: After Five Years of Living,” which illustrated details of Charles and Ray Eames’ Case Study House through an experimental method of turning still images into moving film.

The Eameses relished in picnics and holiday celebrations, making sure to adorn tabletops or picnic blankets with an array of food, candles, flower arrangements, and collectibles. Here, the Eameses have prepared a lovely heart themed picnic. This image is testament to the power and beauty of a small everyday experience.

This image is now being released for the first time as a print for public purchase. Limited run of 100 numbered copies.

Photograph is printed on 100% Cotton Rag, matted, dust sealed and framed with a thin, black, metal Neilsen frame.  Comes with Certificate of Authenticity.

Charles Eames

Photography

Charles and Ray Eames used photography as they did their films, to better understand the product, the project, the situation at hand, and then to see if their understanding of it changed with each photograph.  Close looking from every angle -- what Eames Demetrios wrote in his book, An Eames Primer, as "Charles and Ray took quite seriously the lessons learned from Eliel and Eero Saarinen of trying something out over and over."
