Milo and Esther playing at the table and putting their family’s Eames chairs to good use.
When I first moved to London, straight out of university I lived with a friend in a tiny flat in Hackney. All of our furniture was inherited from my Great Aunt. I heard that The Conran Shop was having a warehouse sale and I convinced my fairly new boyfriend that we should get up very early to queue up and see what treasures we could afford.
After several hours waiting, I left clinging onto a single Eames Eiffel chair. My boyfriend said he hated it.
We are now married with two small children and have a set of four Eiffel chairs, which are at the heart of our family home. My husband now loves them! Why did his opinion change? He began noticing the subtleties of the design, the ergonomics of the chair, as well as how balanced the seat and base are.
