This ninety-two-image, single-screen slide show, features photographs taken by Charles and Ray during their visit to the annual spring opening at the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Tivoli included general views of the park and its attractions, including flowers, ponds, lights, restaurants, and a fireworks display. The Eameses assembled the slideshow as an example of what Ray described as “a magical enchanting atmosphere of play and relaxation for all ages.”
The energy, grace, and charm of the Gardens made a lasting impression on the Eameses. They gained inspiration from them while planning and designing the public spaces for the IBM pavilion at the 1964 New York World’s Fair.
