Eames in the pop-up exhibition “Pastime / Past Time”Posted July 10, 2019
July 19 – August 25, 2019: This summer in Denver, Colorado, see (and sit in!) a variety of classic Eames designs featured in an interactive pop-up exhibition at Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art.
Eames Segmented Base Table (c. 1964-1972). Collection of Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art. Image by Grant Taylor and gifted to the Eames Office by J.F Chen.
The pop-up exhibition Pastime / Pass Time connects visitors to playful objects designed for the American home.
Play architect, creating structures with John Lloyd Wright’s Lincoln Logs®, while sitting in Eames-designed furniture such as a Segmented Base Table and 1950 Eames Molded Shell Chairs.
Inspired by the Denver Art Museum’s summer exhibition, Serious Play: Design in Midcentury America, the pop-up also includes midcentury modern clocks by Irving Harper and George Nelson & Associates, suggesting “past time.”
In conjunction with Pastime / Past Time, Carla Hartman, Eames Office Education Director and eldest granddaughter of Charles and Ray, will give a talk on the life and work of the husband-and-wife team on August 14, 2019.
