Martha Stewart Paints An Eames LCW Posted May 1, 2009 by Daniel Ostroff

In the May 2009 issue of Martha Stewart Living there is an article with instructions on how to apply a red herringbone pattern to an Eames LCW.

We’re reminded of some remarks by Charles Eames about the various knock-offs of Eames Office designs.  Charles said that he often looked at the knock-offs hoping that some one had improved upon the designs, but was always disappointed.

We wonder what would he make of this?

If you decide to paint yours, please send us pictures, and we’ll post them in future Eames Spottings or on the Board.

Both Herman Miller and Vitra, working closely with the Eames Office, manufacture this design in a large variety of woods and finishes.

Authentic examples of this chair are for sale directly from the Eames Office HERE
