The World of Charles & Ray Eames at Vitra Design Museum

Posted June 7, 2017

September 30, 2017 – February 25, 2018: The World of Charles & Ray Eames has traveled all across Europe. See the critically-acclaimed show at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany, before it makes its debut in the United States.

Organized by the Barbican Centre, The World of Charles and Ray Eames first went on view in London before traveling to the Bildmuseet in Umeå, Sweden, MAAT in Lisbon, Portugal, C-Mine in Genk, Belgium, and now, the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany.

Charles and Ray are among the most important designers of the 20th century. They created innovative furniture and industrial products, films, books, exhibitions, multi-media installations, interiors, and much more.

In conjunction with the The World of Charles and Ray Eames, Vitra will also host An Eames Celebration, presenting a series of exhibitions and events—the largest exploration of the couple’s work in a museum to date. The festivities will coincide with the 110th birthday of Charles Eames.

In addition, the estate of Charles and Ray Eames, which has been in the holdings of the Vitra Design Museum since 1988, will be accessible to the public. The retrospective reveals the many facets of the duo’s work and comprises objects from collections worldwide.
